Introduction :
Hero Honda Ltd. is the largest manufacturer for Motor Bikes in india. It has manufacturing facility at Dharuhera (Near Delhi), Haridwar (Uttarkhand) and Gurgaon.
Customer Requirement :
Hero Honda Dharuhera is having a work force of 5500 persons (including permanent & temporary). They were looking for Card less System and wanted to use Finger Print Reader based Attendance Terminals for capturing Attendance. They had tried a number of system from various manufacturers but had failed to implement the same because of time taken to identify user over such a large number of users. The clear mandate was to use the system is only finger mode (1 : N) i.e. no. card.
Fortuna took–up the challenge and put up 3 system in trial Mode initially to check the speed of system with 5000 Finger being enrolled. This process of enrollment carried out for 7/10 days and then with a database of 5000 finger, the system was put in operation to check real time results. They could achieve a thru out of 22 persons attendance per minute which was real time performance. Fortuna then installed 34 Biometric based Attendance terminals in Hero Honda for their entire work force. Then for their new plant a Haridwar, again Fortuna got a repeat order based on performance.

Networking Scheme
The Attendance terminals are connected over local LAN and the IP’s are configured in COMPRO, Communication Application. The data are pulled after each shift and uploaded to Server with SQL back end.
Hero Honda has developed in house Web based Application, which generates the report based on the business need of theirs.

Employee number of the employees whose fingers are absolutely flat, are dialled on the machines. When the same is entered, their transaction is made with time.
Software & IT Related Data
- Transaction Data Uploading to ORACLE : Using Fortuna Software
- Time Attendance Software developed by in house team /no third party vendor software is deployed.
- Proxy control after punching : A software is developed by the inhouse team, which fetches the data from their Oracle server and get displayed on the screen of shop floors, to the concerned HOD, and HOD is having the rights as per given by Time Office to control the employee. If Employee is present and has not reported to the office inside then officer has right to mark him absent.
- Softwares Workflow : Few more software like integration with Oracle and SAP, counting of absenteesm will counted through their own in house development. Either on Lotus forms or on oracle forms.
- ERP Integration with SAP done for Payroll generation & Absentism list(negative Attendance) is extracted & imported by SAP.
- To Avoid Rush some times, Time office will also mark manual attendance during the Shift change
Following are the Hero Honda comments on Fortuna Product & Services :
As per Hero Honda, Fortuna Biometric Based Attendance Product is very robust and effective. They had earlier placed an order to CMS and machines were delivered, but due to non-performance of the machines, they rejected all the machines back to CMS and cancelled the order(during POC phase).
Based on the performance, Hero Honda, placed a repeat order to Fortuna for their new Plant implementation at Haridwar for 19 machines in the first lot & later another Purchase order for 10 machines were placed. The machines are interfaced to the Turn Stile here for Physical Access Control.
Hero Honda, Dharueda plant is having a AMC contract with Fortuna & the rate of AMC is 10%
